As football fans across the nation gear up for the playoffs, Mission Solar Energy is excited to shine a spotlight on a project that perfectly combines the energy of the game with the power of renewable energy: the solar installations at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions. Completed in 2018 in partnership with Power Home Solar, this innovative project showcases how solar power can be seamlessly integrated into high-profile venues, proving that sustainability and sports can go hand in hand.

Situated atop Ford Field’s parking garages in Detroit, the solar system not only reduces the stadium’s carbon footprint but also powers operations that keep the game day experience unforgettable for fans. This forward-thinking initiative didn’t stop at the stadium. Solar panels were also installed at the Detroit Lions’ training facility in Allen Park, extending the benefits of renewable energy to another critical part of the organization’s operations. By harnessing the power of the sun, the Lions have embraced a cleaner and more sustainable approach, a true reflection of Detroit’s resilience and innovation.

As we celebrate the playoff season, this project serves as a reminder that teamwork extends beyond the gridiron. Whether it’s on the field or in our communities, collaboration and innovation drive progress. Mission Solar Energy is proud to have contributed to a project that not only powers one of football’s most iconic venues but also reinforces the importance of renewable energy solutions. So, as the Lions and other teams take the field this postseason, we’re cheering for sustainability to score big, too.
